Today, maize and sugar cane are the major feedstocks for world´s ethanol production with more than 50 billion litres of ethanol per year. In figure 1 and table 1, possible starch-rich and sugar-rich feedstocks for ethanol production, as well as their feedstock characteristics are registered.
